The World's First Ice House Netlabel!

Studio1824.com is an mp3 netlabel based around the culture of Ice Houses. Launched inside Helmsdale Icehouse, Sutherland, in April 2009, it was created by Chris Dooks during a three month artist residency in the village curated by Timespan artist Ruth Macdougall and local young people.

The label launched with Dooks' 1824 Seconds, an album of 1824 Seconds of folktronica made from a combination of recordings from School of Scottish Studies archive material, fused with folktronica elements (melodica, chimes and piano) recorded in the strange building and at the local primary school.
